The Institute for Excellence in Sales & Business Development (IES&BD) was created to demonstrate excellence throughout the Sales & Business Development operational process to help organizations maximize their efforts.
The IES&BD serves as a center of actionable best practices, insights, proprietary data, tools, advisory services, thought leadership, and recognition that enable organizations to achieve High Performance in the area of Sales & Business Development.
The IES&BD offers solutions in three areas: Recognition (Annual Awards), Thought Leadership, and Membership Programs.

The keystone program of the IES&BD is the annual IES&BD Awards, held in the spring, which recognize achievement in corporate and organizational sales initiatives, such as innovation, training, team building, management, customer partnering, and lifetime achievement. The IES&BD Excellence in Sales & Business Development Awards recognizes teams and organizations who have demonstrated exemplary performance through leadership, risk taking, innovation, vision and customer development in Sales & Business Development Awards. The Awards honor Greater Washington sales and business development teams for outstanding contributions to their organizations and customers and to the field of Sales & Business Development.
The IES&BD is a home for some of the top thought leaders throughout the Sales & Business Development process. Leading edge thought, ideas, and practices are offered through the IES&BD to members.
For members, the IES&BD provides podcasts, webinars, newsletters, and seminars to Sales & Business development organizations based on best practice information gathered from hundreds of nominating organizations. Our members know that their organizations’ success is increasingly dependent upon achieving high performance in the area of sales & business development. Our members are often so immersed in the business affairs of their organizations that they have little time available to ensure their own continued professional and personal growth.
The Institute provides that opportunity. Members learn from subject matter experts through formal programs while networking with other senior-level colleagues in different organizations working on the same organizational issues. Thus, our members stay current with trends and developments that then can be applied in their own organizations.
